Not sure what angle I was thinking (or maybe not thinking ) when I said u were closed-minded re: atheism. So, why do we have a patent office? And then there's the whole history of science (and History for that matter) to consider. And yet you definitely HAVE called me "close-minded" about that. So, according to your account of it, you are the one who is "close-minded" on that issue, not me. There is a very strong correlation between the view that it does or doesn't and religious belief or lack of it.

The issue we were discussing in this thread was whether or not consciousness continues after death. You can believe that if u wish.I say the expression of thoughts and ideas may be original but not the thoughts/ideas themselves I have pointed out a few times you were but never said it applies to your atheism I never said you were close-minded ALL of the time on all issues. Even in the US (and Australia) its only 28%. Well then I'm the one doing that Shera, only about 16% of the world's population are classified as "Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist". (And of course there are "original thoughts" - all the time in fact) Since there is no original thought under the sun.thinking outside the box to me means thinking differently from the majority, accepted, popular view In effect all you are saying is "I think its true because I think it is true". In which case there is no point in trying to use it to support a point of view. We all have what we consider common sense.u may or may not agree with mine. "Thinking outside the box" is a fairly meaningless expression. What "common sense" are you referring to?Īll "thinking" is inside one "box" or another - and outside others. and yes many may say what's the point with no evidence, but I just find it all quite fascinating to think about. We would never have had/made the advances we have without some thinking "outside the box"ītw ' reread' in my #235 should have been read, since I do not know how interested you are in this.I changed it I could perhaps also go along with the theory that consciousness precedes our brain's creation and development. but IMO the likelihood of being true is more than a 50/50 chance based on what I am calling common sense .if we are speaking of consciousness surviving the death of the body, so I would not use your words ' could well be' when it comes to saying it is or may be false.
